'Kepresontativos from nearly ovory British colony would, ho added, attend tho opening of tho Conferoneo. Mr Uownor intend? to propopo that tho Knglish Government should introduco a bill with tho object of making it logal to oxtradito absconding debtors.

Sir Henry Holland will preside when convenient, and in his absonce Lord Onslow will tako the chair. Mr W. A. Baillie Hamilton, Private Secretary at the Colonial Odico, will act aa Secretary of tho Conference
A feeling of regret is widespread nt the decision to hold tho meetings in private, as tho various newspapers had made elaborate preparations for reporting tho proceedings. An opinion prevails that the Queen ought to open tho Conference. The Oarlton Club will admit the members of the Conforenco as honorary member?, which is quite unprecedented so far as this club is concorned.
