BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The weekly meeting was held thia afternoon there being present: — Mesara S. Luko (Chairman), J. W. Carr, 3, M. Lennox.
Point Chevallier. —Mr Allright reported that he had inspected the sites offered by Mr Osmond and Mr Monaghau. That offered by Mr Monagban waa three acres fenced on two sides fronting the Gladstone Road on gently rising ground with a northerly aspect, and situated about midway between the Old and New North Koads. If the threo sites offered by Mr Osmond that marked A and having an area of 1 acre and 21 perches appeared to be the beet. It stood about 8., chains distant from the Gladstone Road. In winter tho ground would be wet and sloppy, and the cost of gravelling considerable He considered Monag ban's clearly the boist ci te.
Arrangement of Teachers —The Chairman's report stated (1) that) the tonilor of F. S. Shepherd (£S) had been accepted for painting school at To Awamutu ; (2) that Socretary of the Educational Inetifeu to hurl boon t uroishocl with a nominal roll of teachers in service of Board; (3) that tho following arrangement of teachers had been made: — Mies E. Airey from Training College to Beresford street, in the absence of aaeietant ; Miss M. C Mclvor, assistant, to Ponsonby; Key. J ohnßOn Selby, probationer, to Nowton East; Mies Margaret Astley, pupil teacher, to Newton East; Miss Maria Brineden, pupil teacher, to Wellesley-street; Mias Sarah A. Goad, pupil teacher, to Kairoranga Girls' School; Mr Alfred 0. Hall, pupil teacher, to Kaireranga Boys' School j Miss Minnio Hougham, pupil teacher, to Newton East; Mr James fclowio, pupil teacher, to Ohaupo; Mr Adam Kelly, pupil teicher, to Nelson-stroot; Mias rtdelaiilo Latimer, pupil teacher, to Grafton Koad ;Mr Jamos Miller, pupil teacher, to Kaueranga Boys School; Miss Floronco M Smith, pupil toachor, to Mount Eden ; Mr Ernest J. Walters, pupil teacher, to Wollesloy-street. Mr Poland's application for incroaso of palary, had been held ovor until quarterly adjustment. The word "temporarily" having beon inserted after "assistant" following Miss M. 0. McIvorY name. Tho report waa adopted.
A Contractor's Blu.vdkr.— A letter was received from William B. Smith, Sheridanstreet (successful tendoror, at £230, for orection of toacber's residence At Tamahere), stating that in histenderhe had omitted to include the cost of labour and back building (£4!)), and asking leave to amend bis tender by adding this £-io to il. Even then ho would only make bare wagop.—Tho application waa rofueed, and in answer to Mr Goldio, tho secretary stated that tho contract bond had boeu signed, and that Messrs Ceo. Cruickshank and Still wore Mr Smith's sureties.
