Mysterious Disappearance of a Cambridge Storekeeper.
Mn J. Simi'Son, partner in tiie firm of Lewis uud Simpaou, Gainbridgo, has been mießing since Sunday evening. He wai last eeen by Mrs T. B Lewis, his partner's wife, and hia ot?n sister, descending the bank towards Te Koutu lakej which is in the Domain Grounds A. bruueh of the same path also leads to the Karapiro Creek, iv which Air SimpHon has been in the habit of bathing. The banks of the creek are very steep, and coav* posed entirely of sand, and,' iv fact, in some places are porpendicular cliffa quite, 100 itet high, which break away with a very little extra weight. It was thought that parbaps Mr Simpson had wa.nder.e4 tpo near the edge pf one of these and had fallen .over,' or that he had. been bathing, and had been engulfed in ono of th.6 quicksands that abound in the creek, which aro very dangerous in consequence of their being continually on the move, and although a certain part may be safe today, next vvoek you may find a dangerous quick, sand in that very part. Many of Mr Sirovjaon'a friends thoroughly searched every part of the domain and the neigli bourhoqd of the Karapiro Creek on Tutday, atid ngain since then without fiuutii g any trace of him. Had he been buitiinj?; his clotbes would have been found, and if he had fallen over tlie^cliff, his body would have been found. No trace whatever ot him has been found.
