(UY. TKLIiUK.VfII —riIKSS ASSOCIATION. )
Wellington, Monday,
Tiik prisonor Crabtreo is Hill at large. At tho ollicial inquiry hold today, it was shown that tho uiothnd by which ho had obtained his liberty was very ingenious. Ho had by some mea'iH obtained a gougo, and first tried to removo tho staplo of the door. Finding thid impossible, he gouged out tho hingou and was then onablea to force tho door open from tho back, and squeeze himself out. How ho got over the gaol wall without being obsorvod is not known, but as the walla are not high thoro would bo no great dilh'culty in doing so if the convict got out of his cell while darkness prevailed. Tho inquiry shows nogligenco on tho part of Iho warder whoso duty it was to inspect tho colls through tho night. It i* believed that Crabtroo is boing sholtered in town. LATER, Crabtreo i°not yet re-caplurcd. Severn! roports nro curront of prisoner being seen in various parts of the town, but they aro without foundation. Tho wnrdor on duty at tho tiino of eecapohos been suspended.
