This afternoon a dense volume of smoke was observed arising from the \icinity of Upper Queen street. At first it wsis thought that a building was on tire, but ultimately it proved to be the growth of furze in the grounds surrounding tho Girls' High School. A. gang of beaters were busily engaged keeping the flames from reaching the fences or doing other damage.
