At Mess's Hunter and Nolan's first cattle fair, held on Monday, at the Papakura Yards, there was a very large muster of iitook ot all classes, and for yonngl^f. ethe competition waa keen. A good many outside buyers were present—Mr Henry Vercoe, of Tauranga, being one ot tbo largest buyers. No leas a number than 250 animals were purchased by that gentleman. As these cattle are for that part of tbe Bay of Plenty lately covered with the roloanla mnd ash from the Tarawera eruption, the grass there would appear to have made some good growth of late.
