EDUCATION BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above board was held this aftornoon. Present: Messrs S. Luko (Chairman), Carr, Goldie, Upton, Lennox, Clark, Theo. Cooper, and R. Udy.

Chairman's R* port. —This report merely dealt with a quantity of routine matters.— It was adopted without discussion.

Auckland Training Colleqb. The report of the Visiting Committee of the Training College recommended that Annie Murray and Samuel Harris be permitted to attend tho Thames High School during the scholarship. In view of the large number (14) of scholarships to be vacant in December next, the Committee recommended that one oxtra senior scholarship and two junior scholarships bo granted at a charge ol £100 to the next highest candidates in the lata examination. Their names were as follow?: —Senior Scholarships : James Drummond, aged 13, of the Auckland College and Grammar School. Junior: James Jehu Parker, aged 12, of Ponsonby Schoole, and John Watson, aged 12, Kaueranga Boys' School. —The report was adopted.

Tenders for Supplies.—The Secretary reported that the tenders had been scheduled, and they found that for furnituro there was only £5 difference between tho thrco tondcM. Messrs Sancrey and Co. woio tho lowest tendorors, but tho Board decided to accept Parko and Co , as they woro better known to thorn. Messrs (ioldie and Upton contonded that this procedure was Fcarcely fair to other tenderers, as Parko had boon a now man onco. For timber supplies, tho tender of tho Union Saeh and Door Company was £11S and lIS, and tho New Zealand Timbor Company £120 13s lHd. Tho former tender was accepted. Tho tender of Mr T. Chapman was accepted for stationery.

Wesi.kyan CoLLKCE.-It was roeolvjd to offer £250 per annum for two years for this building.
