Thames Gas Co.—Annual Meeting.

The annual meeting of shareholders of this Company was hold at the offlco of Mr F. A. White at 11 a.m. on August 27Mr C. B. Stono presiding. Tho report of tho directors was as follows :—The directors have mnoh pleasure in presenting shareholders with the balance-sheet find profit and loss account for tho year ended 31st July last, from which it will be scon that, after making provision for bad and doubtful debts, and a sum equal to 1 per cent, as deproeiatlon on valuo of plant and buildings, there remains a sum of £909 53 lOd available for division, which thoy recommend being appropriated as fellows :—To payment of a dividend of Is 6d per share, which, with tho interim dividend paid in February last, is equal to 8 per cent, per annum on the paid-up, capital of tho Company, leaving a balance of £220 12s lOd to bo carried forward to now account. In accordance with the Company's Articles of Association, Mr J. L. Wilson retires from the directory, and, being eligible, offers himself for re-election. Itis also the duty of this meeting to elect an nuditor for the curront year. Mr Goorgo Frascr again oilers hi 3 services to tho shareholders. The balance-sheet showed tho gross receipts of the year to havo been £1,071 Bs 2d, expenditure, £2,275 33 sd. Tho profit and loss account was as follows:—To dividend paid t th September, 1885. £"18 13s; dividend paid Sth March, 18Sfi, £748 135—£1,197 Cs; depreciationplant and buildings, £113 Us Id; balance, £969 3s lOd: total. £2,910 os 11. By balance 31st July, JBBS, £1,01517s lid; balance on yoar's workings, £1,793 2b 9d; teterea.t, £95 5s 3d : total, £2,910 5s lid. Mr J. L. Wilson was rc-eiectod director, and Mr G. Frasorauditor, and Hie meeting separated with tho customary compliment to the Chairinau.
