Gordon, nominated by .t. McMaater and W, Johnstono ; F. Hastings, nominated by John McJlastor and Robert Gordon ; George Garrott, nominated by Robert Gordon and A. G. Leo; S. J. Ambury, nominated by A. Morris and A. Massey ; A. Morton, nominated by U. Po C. MartclU and W, Thorne ; Joropli Pooloy, nominated by G. J. Webbley and Thos. Webb ; E. Bucklev, nominated by A. Donver and R. Laing. Tho threo retiring Councillors aro R. Gordon, F. lUfrtiugg, and K. Kuckloy, all of whom, it will bo observed,have been re-nominated.
Mesprs George Bishop, Ebcnezer Burpo??, William llobert Holmes, William Morgan, William G. Kose, and James Tuito have bosn nominated for the three vacant Beats on Nowmarket Borough Council. A poll will theioforo bo held, uufour of the gentlemen named retire, which is very unlikoly in tho present state of feoling in tho district,
Yesterday the anniversary porvices of Ponsonby Baptist Church were held, Key. T. Ijrny pioaching in the morning, and Rev. C H. Garland in tho evening. There wore good congregations at both diets of worship, and the collections in aid of the buil-.iing fund were highly satisfactory. To-morrow (Tuesday) evening tho annual !"PU"-. o is to tako place, when tho paetor (Key. J. H. Jones) and Rev. Messrs Bray and Worboys will deliver addroeses.
