To-morrow's Football Match.

(To the Editor.) Sm, —As ono of the firmest supporters of the manly game of football, I beg to protest against tho Rugby Union Committee charging the ladies one shilling admission to the grand stand. I, in common with many others, think that ladies should be admitted to tbe grand stand free, seeing that all have to pay for admission to tho grounds. Tho Committee should consider that it is difficult for ladies to get a glimpse of a football match when 8,000 or 9.000 people are assembled. As generous as men are, nt to-morrow's match it is very probable that the weak must go to the wall. The Union havo bean very fortuuute in their takings (his season, consequently they should extend their generosity to the ladies at the Sydney match as well as thoy did at the late Wellington match Trusting, sir, that our lady friends may. have a look at the great match. I have, &c, Half-iucK.

To the Editor : Sir, —Can you inform me if there is a Koad Board for this district, and if so, can you explain if thi? is their holiday season ? For weeks past Mount Roskill Road, from View Road to New North Roid, has been (to put it mildly) a little soft; indeed, you cannot feel tho road at all. I cannot say how much land may bo worth on tho main road, but pedestrians are carrying it down town at an alarming rate on their clothes. I observe wo are going to have a pond to swim in the hollow near the bridge in a short time, to I purpose having a few lesions at the public baths. I imagine that in a very short time (comparatively) this district will s-end forth a goodly number of smart a'blote'. Sco how we jump and hop along, liko so many mudlirks, raising our voices also ; but there the likeness ends, tho notes are different. "Is there no b'.lm in Gilead ?" is there no scoria in tho district? If not, then let us have somethisg for our money. Provide us with stilts and a practice ground, else there will be lives lost by drowning or bogKing, Any information about this Board, which seems to be non est, will oblige A M-DLARK, Rocky Nook.

To tbo Editor of the Star: The President of the Women's Christian Temperance Union (Mrs Rrame) desires to thank the donors of the following sums in aid of the Union's Poor Fund :—Eureka, £1; Kpsom, £1 li ; Onehunga, £1,
