It is with much reluctance that I give up the honourable place of Councillor,which I have held forssven years, but businejs interests absorb so much of my attentijn that I bhould he unable to devote the time to city affairs which thoir importance demands. Permit mo to say. however, that I trust an energetic successor will er deavour to obtain for your ward a fair expenditure on necessary works in proportion to the rates collected, which amount to a much larger sum than Is contributed by any other ward in the city.
