Quito pix of our largest furnituro manufacturers would, I am sure, vouch for the truth of the statements that tho great majority of their man have been discharged in consequence of the market being Hooded with so much furniture that hss been " blown together" by men at Home commonly known as "sweaters" who aro compelled to work at starvation prices This trash is eacerly sought after by, I am almost ashamed to pay, tho well-to do of Auckland, wh ~ for the life of them, cannot understand hoiv thero can possibly bo any great distress in their midst, when they do their best to send a great deal of money out of the country. It is a well known fact that the cabinet-making trade is all but defunct in Auckland, although we have some of the finest tradesmen that the world possesses amongst jis at present In conclu-ion, may I suggest that you open your columns for the ventilation of this allimportant question, viz., tho cause or cure ol glut in the labour market. —I am, etc., SriTEKEr,.
