A I.o.M'un |t:tpur -iid : Wo have lecuived mldilionul particulars with reference to tho olectrio lighting of BourganoulV, a small town in tho tniddlo of (Vcuhc. Contracts for lighting urc mudo by M. Liimy, tho projoctor, with tlueo lilflo town.- timilar to thrvo mado for lighting: by na?, for a peiiod of forty to fifty year?, ho undertaking municipal lighting aud the lighting for private consumers bs tar as tho power at hi? die po?ul \vil!B iil'o v. Tlio public lighting id supplied by contract, that of private persons is rated by tho n.oter. Tho lighting of tho tnwn of Bourganouf compii -c.", beejdes sixty etroet lamps, tho entire lighting of tho town hall, with twenty lamps ; tho church withpevon lamps ; cafo?, hotels, shops, &c, amounting to about ono hundred and fix lumps, tho installation boms capable of maintaining about throo hundred. Tho worlcin^ of the pybtem is in tho hands ot" M. Marcel Misme, mill owner. Tho motive forco is produced by an old trough wheol fivo metres iti diameter, making only cix rovolutions per minute. This primitive motor is dieadviintu{,'oous for a fall of about oloveu motres, but with a euitablo turbino capablo of working tho machine direct it would bo easy to obtain tho to 30 horsopower necessary for tho comploto installation. This improvement will Foon ba made ! The current is tupplied by a Thury dynamo machino with six poles, compound wound, running at 450 revolutions por vninuto, and giving normally 110 voltK at tho terminals, and 180 amperes, but capablo of giving a« much as 'J'_'s amperes without danger. Tho luaipj aro cvorhead, ; and laid on inaulatorn. Tho wires aro all on tho \Voodhou.-*c and Kawson system, tdii-candlo typo, requiring, according to tho distance from tho works, n distanco amounting to 1,750 metres for tho farthest lamp, from oighty to ninot-y rolta and abont o'3 amporo. Those low-power lamjis certainly fauilitato tho distribution, and this installation will furnish some ugoful information as to tho duration of theso lamp 3 when in eorvico. Tho public lamps aro all lightcd|whon the dynamo ia started, nndonly extinguished when it ntops. Tho littings aro very tasteful and tho lamps ingeniouely distributed so ns to givo a satisfactory li^ht with tlio loust possible numbor.
