VOLUNTEER NOTES.
The usual inspection parade of No, 2 Battalion of the Auckland Garrison was held last evening when Major Dignan was in command. Senior. Major Isaacs and Adjutant Captain CHlton were alao in attendance. The various ■companies wero fairly reproßonted. The Vlotortaa ■ woro under Captain Skinner and Lieut. Selte City Guards, Captain Waddel, Lieut Dormer' Houson Company, Lieutenants Little and Daw1Bon ; and Qusen'H Own, under Capt.ln KeeD ' Serjeant-Major Campbeil put the battalion : through tte usual movements, after which tha parade was dismissed, and the companies wenl into special bueiteßS, Captain Waddel announced ihat arrangements would be made to havo a wing of tha Market for bayonet exerclro on the mornings of Mondays and Saturdays, in order to practise for meetine the challenge thrown out by ihe Onehunga Rifles, Hobson Company, At the close of tho drill. Major Dlgnan prs. sented the ladieB1 prize to Volunteer Beach, who made 52 points in the district claBS firing. Th« Hobeion Company have challenged the Opehunga Rifles to meet them in a bayonet ccßlest 20 men a-side.
