Auckland Racing Club Winter Meeting.
Several lines have been written on the two principal events of the above meeting during the last couple of days. For the Great Northern Steeplechase, Mies Griffiths has quietly met with support at 100 to 14, while the owner of Kangaroo has accepted 200 to 36 that he wins. About Guy Fawkes, 3 to 1 would be readily taken, but 5t02 is the best offer. The quotations are as follows : -5 to 2 against Guy Fawkes, 3 to 1 Macaroni. 4 to 1 Belle, 6 to 1 Kangaroo and Miss Griffiths, 8 to 1 Whalebone.
The Wanganui horee Wild Boy (who is engagad in the Maiden Steeplechase) and Landseer havo arrived to take part in the meeting.
A telegram from SydDey, via the South, states that the Hon. J. White haa sold the Auckland-bred colt Matchlock, by Musket —Yatterina, for a thousand guineas, and ho will be taken to India. HiproNA.
