Lvvekcargill, this day The recent rain has been followed by the most disastrous floods that have occurred for many years. There are several breaks on the Invercargill, Kingston, Nightcaps, Waimea Plains, and Dunedin lines. In one case the break is a mile long, and it will take some time to repair the damageß. The loss of property must be great, but as yet no particulars have como to hand, It ie still raining.

Work was resumed at all tho Boot factories to-day, the strike thus terminat ing
