Too Find at Waiomo,
About throe tone of stuff, obtained from tho Paroquet, a prospector's claim at Waiomo, has been packed to the beach, and tho greattr portion has now been carted to Grahamstown, where it will be subjoctedto battery treatment. Very little work has been done upon the outcrop during thb week, beyond sinking on it for a depth of about a foot, and in consequenco most people aTe sceptical as to whether the forma'ion goes down and develops into a quartz roef.
In the Waiomo claim, several stringers have been cut in the drive, which is in a distance of GO feet, on 9 of thorn being fully fchroo inchos thick, but no gold has been soon in any of the quartz brokon out. Crushing from tho Prospectors claim commences to-morrow.
Work has been started in tha Emu, but nothing has yet been met with. Kiely and party, who are working to tho northward of tho Prospector*, report having found a few colours of gold in a formation of tho eurface.
The report that colours of gold have been found in a quartz reef about a milo to the eastward of the Prospectors has had the effect of causing several claims to bo pegged out, but beyond this it cannot be said that it has boen productive of any good, though it will doubtless have tho effect of causing further prospecting to be carried on in the vicinity, where it is believed payable gold exists. Prospecting at Maungatautari. Hamilton, this day. Owing to the lateness of the season, gold prospecting at Maunnatautari will be given up. Sio far as Mr MaLean has got, there are no favourable indications.
