Attheßesident Magistrate's Courtto-day, ■judgment was given by Mr Kenrick in the case of Whitaker and Foley, buah contractors at Mercury Bay, which was a claim for £93, damages and work done. The R.M. held that the contract had been broken by Foley without sufficient cause, and judgment was given for fifteen pounds, with costs £10 3s.
Prince Imperial.—The crushing of 48 loads of general dirt was finished to-day for the excellent return of 138ozs gold. Ivanhoe (Karangahake).—The manager banked 40ozs 17dwts of gold to-day.
Wellington, this day.—At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, a charge of illegally shooting a hare was dismissed, on the technical grounds that it had not been proved that hares had been imported into this district. It was contended it was not sufficient to show that animals had been imported to districts and upread thence, and the Magistrate upheld this view.
