The thirteenth annual carnival of the two Clubs has undoubtedly been the most successful of any yet held. Towards the close) of tie afternoon the grounds were simply crowded with spectators, who all evinced the keenest interest in the results of the sports. The arrangements were perfect, all the events starting well to time, which prevented the interest of the lookere-on from flagging. Great credit is due to the officers and committee for tho excellent manner in which the prosramme was carried out. The crowd wore remarkably orderly, and the police in attendance, under Senior-Sergeant Pratt, were not put to much trouble. At the luncheon, His Worship the Mayor proposed the health of His Excellency the Governor, which was cordially responded to, In replying, Sir William Jorvoia complimented the Committee upon the Bucoesful nature of tho arrangements, and expressed his pleasure at having been present. He further stated that the cricket ground was one of the finest he had ever seen. His Excellency retired a little before 5 o'clock.

The following are the results of the events which conoluded after we went to press on Saturday :—

150 Yards Handicap.—9 entries, lst, R. F. Lusk; 2nd, H. P. Lusk; 3d, H. George. One Mile Handicap.—l 7 started, lst, M. Keefe (50yds); 2nd, T. H^yr (70yds); 3rd. G. Smart (40yds). Time, 45^secs. 2()0 Yards Hurdles.—lo entries; 7 Started. lst, R. B. Lusk (15yds) ; 2nd, S. W. Somerlield (15yds); 3rd, B. Owen (scratch). Time, 27 3 5 sees.

1 Mile Bicycle Championship, — 7 entries ; 5 started. Ist, A. Stewart; 2nd, J. Loeky; 3rd, F. W. Hunt. Time, 3min. 32 2 5 sees. This was a close race between Lecky and Stewart. One-mile Walking.— Nineteen entries; 14 started, lst, A. F. Burton (COyds); 2nd, E, W. Burton (35yds); 3rd, E. W. Lawrence (10yds). Time, 7min 36 4-ssec. In some instances the walking was of a questionable character.

Quarter-wile Handicap. — Thirty-six entries; 19 started. Ist, J. W, Winks (35yds); 2nd, W. Wynyard (20yds). The third place was a dead heat between H.- B. Lush and H. H. George ; H, Donald being close behind. Time, 53 2-ssec.' J. R. Reed won this race last year in 56 seconds, but this time he was too heavily handicapped for such a short dietanoe, and although he ran well, he never had a chance of winning.

Half - mile Handicap (Bicycle). — Ten entries ; nino started. Ist, A. Stewart (15yds); 2nd, J. Lecky (14yds); 3rd, A. A. Gledhill (23yds). Time, lmin 37 3-ssec. This was a very exciting race, the men keeping well together throughout.

Dropping Football. — The following were the post entries: Messrs Arneil, Braund, Warbriek, Ryan, d?ulman, C. Sexton, H. B. ,-L.usk, Jordan, Swinnorton, and R. Wood. On the whole the kicking was scarcely a creditable display. Sexton gave somo steady drops, but did not rpach tjps requisite distanpe tp win. "jphe contest resulted as follqws :—lst, Arnpil, 174 feet ; and J. Braund, 163 feet j inch. Twp-MifcE Bicycle Clujs Race.—l 4 entries, 10 started. Ist, A. Stewart (£0 yds) j 2nd, f. W. Hunt (40yds) ; 3rd, It B. Lusk (150 yds). Time, 7min If} 4 sths sec. This was a very interesting race. The men finished well together.

Consolation Handicap. — The Consolation Handicap brought out 11 entiies, and resulted in a dead hpat between O. H. Gould (Iyd) and F. C. Lewis (3yds). B. Wood, J. Braund, G, Brown, Lewis, C, White, Rhodes, Tonks, Tucker, Atkinson, Major also ran, On the tio being run off, Gould won by about a yard and a half.
