Mount Eden Congregational Church.
The first anniversary soiree of the above church was held on 13th inst. The building had been tastefully decorated for the occasion with toitoi feathers,chrysanthemums, dahlias, interwoven with laurels and other evergreens. Near the rtstrum was placed a fine specimen of the vallotapurpara in bloom, in a pot. There was 8 large attendance, of members and friends, The first annual report was read by the. Secretary. It stated that the Church started with 33 members, 31 of whom bad been transferred from the parent church in. Beresford-street. Since then the roll had increased to 64. The average attendance was—Morning, 230; eveninp, 120. The Treasurer read thefinancialßtatement.whicli showed the total receipts at £663 9s id,, and expenditure, £548 16s 9d, with « credit balance of £14 12s lOd. Speeches were delivered by the Rev. C. Worboys on " Spiritual Life and power," and the m Mr Monro, of Remuera, upon " Church Music." The Rev. Mr Mapfarlanfi also addressed a few congratulatory rtirparss, Prl < itive Methodist Soiree. The members of the Primitive Methodist Church, Alexandra-street, held their thirtyfifth anniversary soiree on 13th n» There was a large attendance, and aw proceedings opened with tea and its delicious accompaniments. The schoolroom was nicely decorated with Scripture texts, mJ the tables adorned with vaeesjol .wm flowers. The foliowing ladies attendee;» the tables:-Mesdames Juff^H Mewburn, Nicholl, Little.Watt, andMissa Thompson, Simpson (2), Juffray.^nd Jcaco (2). When tea was over the fnencire paired to the church, wherei the eta* meeting was held. The Rev. Joseph tafc the retired minister, occupied the euu, and called upon Mr D, Qoldfe (cm* steward) for t%e repcft.
