Tiie Anniversary Soiree of the Jarnell Wesleyan Sunday-school was celebrated on 13th inst, a welcome being also awarded 1 to the Rev. Mr Carr, the newly appointed ' minister. There was a large attendance at the tea and the after meeting, which W m presided over by the Rev, R, Bavin It has been decided to enlarge the Anglican Church of St. Barnabas, Mount Eden, by erecting two side winga and in•ceasing the length of the nave, Tne Church has at present accommodation fo» 150 worshippers. With the proposed 'enlargement it will accommodate 400. %» plans have been prepared by Mr Wilton architect. ' A valedictory soiree to the Rev. T. G. Carr, who, in accordance with the periodical circuit changes, is on the eve of his departure from St. John's* Ponsonby, for Parnell, was held on April 2, and was largely attended. The tea was held in the school, room,, and the following ladies presided at the various tables: — Mesdainei Bettany, A. Thome, Main, Goodacre, Jessop, Souster, John Gittos, : W. Gittos, Bartley, Joynt, and Misses " Bloomfield and Hutchinson. The Bohse-
quent public meeting took place in He church, and was presided over by tbeßey, H. Bull (President of the New Zealand Wesleyan Conference). Seats beside him on tbe platform were occupied by the Revs, J. E. Moulton, W. Gittos,, R. Bavin, and D. W. Runciman, while the Revs. J. R '• Jones, Dr. Macdonald, and C. Ward were amopgßt the audience.
