Young Men's Christian Association.
The annual meeting of the Auckland Young Men's Christian Association was held at the temporary rooms of the Association, Welloelev-street West, at 7.30 p.m. on March 19. The Rev. J. S. Hill, President, oconpied the chair, and amongst those piesent we noticed Hon. Col. flaultain, Messrs F. G. Ewington, .. Larkins, G. W. Owon, Douglas, Knight, F. L. Prime, Steele, T. Buddie, Rout, Wiseman, J. L. Wilson, Brakenrig (Permanent Secretary). The proceedingßopenedwith singing, prayer, and tho reading of Scripture. Mr Thomas Buddie (Hon. Secretary) read the minutes of the last annual meeting, which were confirmed, and then read the annual report of the Association. It referred to the steps taken for the erection of the now building, which was expected to be completed by Christmas. The Committee estimated that .£7,000 Would be required, and of this they hoped £2,500 would be raised ; the roit they had borrowed at a low rate of interest, and calculated that the rent of tho shops would pay tbe in teres La tid provide a roaeonablo sinking fund. Tho report also doalt with the proceedings at the laying of tho foundation Btono on the 27th of January, by' Bishop Barry, Primate of Australia, full details of which have already been published. —The report and balaiico-sheot were adopted without discussion, on tho motion of Colonel Haultain, seconded by Mr Owen. —. Oh the motion of Mr Buddie, seconded by Mr Larkins, the Eev. J. S. Hill was re-elected President.— The following were re-elected Vice-Pre-sidents :—Bishop Cowio,'Archdeacon Maunsell, Revs. R. F. Macnicol, Worboys, W. Tebßs, A. J. Smitb, R. Baviti, H. Bull, T. Spurgoon, J. Robertson,Messrs F. Battley, J. L. Wilson, D. Ooldie, Wiseman, F. J. Ewington, Hon. Colonel Haultain, Messrs F. Latkins, J. Newman, R. B Shalders, H. G. Seth Smith, G. Holdship, Dr. Renderdine. Messrs W. Callender^and J. Douglas were re-elected lion, treasurers, and Mossrs T Buddie and A. Knight lion, secretaries. The Committee of Management was elected aa follow:—Messrs R. S. Abel, E. Bell, F. J. Bodle, Bemory, H. Edmieton, W. Entrican, W. C. W. McDowell, 8.A.. S. Parker, J, Wilson, J. Wadham, E. Vithy, A. Thome, Whitolaw, and Dr. Knight. Messrs G. A. Buttlo and R. A. Bodle wero elected auditors, and Mr Edmiston auditor of the Theatre Service Fund.—This terminated tho formal business. Brief addresses wore given by Mr Aitken Connell, an ex-President of the Dunedin V.M, C.A., and other gentlemen, and the proceedings terminated with devotional exercises.
