The Night-soil Service.
(To tho Editor.)
Slit,—ln a rocont issue you say Inspector Goldie will be round to inspect yards and closets. I trust bo will, and that he will try and do his duty in thi.. matter, and not allow poople to ompty their closets in their gardons ns is done by many in one of the principal roads injthe Karangahape}Ward, lb is disgracoful that a fow in a road should be taxed with tbe night-soil cart whon their neighbours all around them aro allowed to mako pestpits of their gardens. It is most shameful; most unjust. Whon the omptying process is going on, overy door and window hns to be closed to keep out tho vile odour. With such weather as wo havo had, you can perhaps imagine what wo havo to endure. In the faco of this, can anyono say tho Inspector does his duty ? Such practices have boen allowed for long ; indeed, it is done in all parts of tlie city. We woro compelled to go to groat expense, and made threo years ago to havo the night soil cart, and woro told all would and must havo it, but it was only talk, nothing moro, liko a groat deal moro in this very porfoct city. Will you kindly help in this mattor ?—I am, etc., A. NOYKII.
