German Jews Going to London
At the present time a very great strain^ is being put upon the resources of tho Jewish Board of Guardians through the influx of Jews into London who have beon expelled from Germany. These are, it appears, deserving and industrious artisans who have been driven into exile Bimply because they were not born in Germany. The number of these poor people arriving in London is daily increasing. What adds to the difficulty with which the Jewish Board of Guardians has to cope is the arrival recently of a number of Jews from Roumania and Russia, those from the former country having been expelled by virtue of a discretionary law voted in 1881 by the Roumanian Chambers, and intended to be applied to vagrants who had no home and who did no work. It may be added that 95 per cent, of the Jews relieved st the Jewish workhouse in Devon Square are foreigners. These people cannot get employment, as tho industries to which they belong are already over-weighted,
