WELLINGTON NOTES.

[liV TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Wellington, this day, After all tho contradictory statements we have heard as to the movements of the Admiral and H.M.S. Nelson, it now seems almost certain that as many Ministers as possible will return to Wellington immediately to consult with the Admiral on several important questions awaiting discussion. I understand that the Premier has boen telegraphed to for the purpose of ascertaining if he can return to Wellington, and if his reply is satisfactory, you may expoct a re-assembling of Ministers at once. It seems improl .ble that Sir Julius Vogol will be back, but all the others are, I believe, expected. Is is unlikely, therefore, that the Nelson w ill go further South. The Samoan Trouble. The Samoan envoy this morning had another interview with His Excellency the Governor and Ministers. Their representations havo beon cabled to tho Secretary of State by tho Governor, but no reply has yet been received by His Excellency. Tho Question of Cable Charges. I was informed yesterday afternoon by acting Postmaster - General Tolo that advices havo been received to the effect that the Cablo Extension Company decline to agree to the terms sanctioned by Parliament last session, namely,a further subsidy for 5 years instead of 10 years, and a reduction of the charges to 6d per word, The Company demand a fresh agreement for another 10 years at old rates. Sir William Pox and Hutt Con-

stituenoy.

It is rumoured that the Hutt constitituoncy arc requisitioning Sir William Fox to contest that seat at next election. I believe tho district has been sounded, but I was assured yesterday by Sir William Fox himself that he knew nothing of tho matter, and from tho tenor of his remarks I am inclined to think lie is not particularly anxious to re-enter political life just at present.
