The Auckland Summer Meeting.

Some good woik «ua done at Ellerslie this morning. Stoneyhurst.Nolson.and Wapiti, were brought out on the course proper.evidently with the intention of doing a strong gallop, but Wapiti bolted, and the boy could not pull, him up before, he went four times round, StoneyburstL was then sent round alono, when Nelson joined him, and the pair put in some strong work, Major George's horse appearing to have the best of it. Taeman went twice round at a good swinging - pace, and Cbaafe sent Turquoise, Necklace, Derringer and Radames (in company) about two miles Btrongly. Foul Shot, with Libeller for a companion, wenttwice round, coming home fast, and Tetford put in a good ones round Woodnymph and Revolver did threoouarter speed work, and the hurdle racer Kingask put in one of the best rounds of the morning. Refrigerator went twice round steadily, and Salvage, after going onco round at medium pace, was rattled along for a fast mile, Tho prices on the principal events wero called over at Tattersall's last night, but the ■ only business transacted was the acceptance of 100's to 4 about Torpedo for the ('up. The leading prices on offer were: —100 to 28 Stoneyhurst; 100 to 30 Tasman ; 100 to 12 Waitiri; 100 to 10 Turquoise and Necklace; 100 to 7 Capsize ; 100 to 6 Refrigerator. For the Steeplechase, 500 to 70 was wanted about Shotover, and 100's to 5 wero wanted Caoutchouc. Kingask waa quoted favourite for tho Hurdles at 2 tol.

Mr <T. 0. Evett declared the following weights last night in connection with the mooting :—

Acceptances for both the above races ore due to-morrow (Wednesday) evening., Lochiel was' backed at Tattersall's last night to win tho Dunedin Cup for all the money available at 100 to 8 and 100 to 10. Mr Evott's allotment of the weights for tho Christmas Handicap and Hurdles has given a lot of dissatisfaction among local sporbmon. Complaints are loud and wide at the lonient treatment awarded Kingask and Macaroni in the jumping race. From a private letter rocoived from Cbristchurch we loam that " Robin Hood " has sold his hairdressing and tobacconist establishment, and at once leaves for Sydnoy to carry on hia business. "Robin Bood " intends going over via Auckland. In answer to "Inquirer," wo have to etato that the 'chaser Medico, at present in Auckland, was formerly known as Warren's Black Doctor (not Armitat»e'e), The latter is the well-known South Island' porformer, while Medico hails from the Marlborough district. ..:,.. ,;..-,
