The following is tho result of the first day's play:—The Franklins battod first for tho small totßl of 35 runs, F. Marcroft being top scorer with 10. The Clordor. s followed' with iC), H. Hyburn being top soorer with 10. In tho second inniDgs Franklin has oqo wicket down for 27. For the Franklin, Stcrneon showed Bomo of last year's form taking 5 Gordon wickets for 11 runß; while for the Gordons, Downes did very well, securing 5 wickets for 12 runß. This matoh will ho continued noxt Saturday. North Shomk C.C. v. Gas Co. C C.-ThU match was played at North Shore on Saturday "•caalling in a win for North Shore by 15 runs'. The Gas Co. -went in first, and wore nil disposed pf for 2o run?, \v". Edmunds being tho highest scoror with 15 runs. The Nortn Bhove then followed on, and made 10 rnna. Tho former played very steadily, and tho latter was batting frosly whon hmo was called. For the Gas Co., Kdmunds aod Hlgßins bowled woll. For North Shoro, Hinton bowled vory nicely, taking S wickets for 18 runs.
