It is rumoured iv Madrid that a marriage is to be contracted between Princess Eulalia, King Alfonso's youugest sister, and Prince Carlos, heir-apparent to the throne of Por-
tugal. The report that Germany had acknowledged the Spanish occupation of Yap, and that Spain had granted Germany the privilege of free navigation and commerce in the waters of the Carolines, and the right of establishing a coaling station on one of the islands, has been confirmed.
A severe shock of earthquake was idlt on October 13 in Granada.
