les missioners who have for some- time past been expected to conduct the missions ci tho various Anglican Churches of tho Auckland dioceso arrived from England on Saturday morning by tho mail stenmor Anstrolia. The Key. C. Bodin^-ton, Vicar of Chiist Church, Lichheld, and the Key, G. B. Mason, rector of Whitwell, were' met on tho wharf by Archdeacon Dudley, of St. Sepulchre's, Kov. Mr Waipole, of St. Mary's, Parnell, and the Eev, Mr Calder, of All Saints', Ponaonby. After a few congratulatory remarks had been made, tho party proceeded to Bishopscouri, where a short service was held. Bishop Cowie took Rev. Mr Bodington for a drive round the city and suburbs in the afternoon to show him the "lions." During tho past few weeks a house-to-house oanvaes has been made in various portions of tho dioceso in order to find out who really bßlong to tho Church. Copies of two letters by tho miaioners and Bishop Cowio havo been left atmany of the houses. That of tho mis Bionera sets forth the origin nnd objects of the mission, while that of Bishop Cowio explains the object of tho mission as follows : -"The purpose of this mission is to aid the . Church in her ordinary work of (1) instructing those who]are ignorant of tho Go3pol of our Lord Jesus Christ; (2) recalling to their allegiance to Him those who havo became negligent of their duty as Christians ; (3) strengthening those who are conscious of their weakness and desirous of spiritual improvement; and (4) affording help generally to all who need to bo helped in the Christian life." The first of the services wll beheld on Friday evoning at St. Mat thaw's Church, admission being by ticket only. It 13 not the intention of the mifaonera to preach anywhere before tho openmg service on Friday evening, as they require a little rest after their voyago. On that evening, after the ticketholders havo secured tbeir seats, the meeting will bo open to tbepoblicat 7.30 o'clock. This afternoon a( tiree o'clock, a meoting of tho mission committee was he!d at Bishopsconrt, ftraell, when the clergy were formally introduced to the miasioners, and the necessary arrangements for tho forthcoming services were made.

Apablio Bocial gathering in connection with the Women's Christian Temperance Union takes place tonight, at 7.30, in the Yoong Men's Christian Association Rooms. Tbo Rev. S. ifacfatlane occupies tho cbair, and addresses will be given by tha Key. Moots Monro, Bavin, Hill, Smith, and other friends, interspersed with vocal and instrumental music by well-known amateurs,
