To the Editor: Sir,—Through your columns I might observe to the public that a great deal of worthy praise has been paid to our Volunteer corps, but cannot help stating, from personal knowledge, that there are scores of men, even in this city, who have served the New Zealand Government but decline to serve it again, yet are willing to enroll as a citizen brigade two or three hundred strong. This would embrace the feelings of those men who lately so freely supported Bennett's Soudan contingent, I therefore say, Bury any opposition feeling, and let two or three good worthy citizens take the matter up, and make use of such men, and thoreby for defensive purpose have one strong and willing corps to support our fivo or six small Volunteer corps. I submit one Volunteer is worth two pressed men, and we cannot depend upon tho Government,—! am, etc., W.J,
