Thames, this day, Darwin.—The crosscut along the boundary at No. 3 level baa Btruck a body of quartz which tho manager believes to bo the footwall branch of the main lode.
Electric Lighting.—Five electric lights of 20-candle power, on brash (incandescent) Srinciple, have been placed in Bull's battery, laraka Creek, an improvement on gas as an illuminator. Tho dynamo, which is capable of supplying ten lamps of the same power, is driven by a email pelton wheel, and Mr Bull expects a considerable saving with result from the new departure. The Ministerial Visit.—lt is under-, stood that Mr Gordon, Inspecting Engineer Mines Department, will accompany the Hon. Mr Larnach on his visit to Thames, Coromandel, and To Aroha goldfields. Scarcity or Water.—Water for motive power is now so short that only the Queen of Beauty pump and one battery can be supplied from the county race, and the two Bmaller motors used by manufacturers in the borough have been stopped. Tho new Prince Imperial, and Thames Golden Crown Mills are now working alternately.
