Soldier Boy, 10 to 1 each v.Favo, Lochinvar, Merlin, Anchorite, and Anglesey; l, r> to 25 to Iv. any other. Merlin was the smartest on his legs from a good start, with Soldier Boy, Lochinvar, and Favo in closo attendance. Lochinvar, Venetia, Favo, and Soldier Boy flashed past the stand on terms, closely followed by Prince Imperial, Buckingham. Merlin, and Anchorite. Forcing the pace, Lochinvar led round the turn, paßt tho mile-post, and on lo tho back of tho courso, whore ho had an advantage of a clear length of Buckingham ; and two lengtha from tho latter came Favo, Prince Imperial, and Venetia, with half-a-length between them,? tho others clustered, and Auchorite last, but going well. As they approached the far corner Buckingham got to the front and led Lochinvar half-a length till half way round the turn, when the pace began to tell on both, and Merlin, Favo, Moonshee, Soldier Boy, Anglesey, and Normanby closed on thorn. They swept into the straight in a cluster with fh« ™llant old Merlin at their head, attend ' 'y Angleaey, Soldier Boy, and Moonshee. ...ho waa creeping up against the rails. Moat of the whips were brought into play before the distance was reached, where Moonshee challenged Merlin, and after a very brief struggle cut him down and beat him by a clear length. Normanby, who came with a great run fcoin tho homo turn, was third, three lengths away, and then on good terms came Soldier Boy, Anglesoy, Prince Imperial, Anchorite, Buckingham, Favo. and Venetia.
