Sho is' not likely to havo sustained any damage, as- thero Is a sandy bottom, but divers havo been sent down to oxamino tho hull. Tho Hinemoa has been ordered to rondor what assistance sho can. A preliminary enquiry into t*ie affair was ,held yesterday afternoon. The pilot in his evldenco admitted that all ordors were promptly carried out, and that he huggod the shore a little too close, and that he alone was to blamo. In tho matter. An attempt was made at one o'oiock this morning by the Wakatlpu and Hinemoa lo tow tho Ruapehu off, but it was unsuccessful. ■ A later messago says:—All attempts to float the Ruapehu on last night'B tide failed. The cargo is still being taken out, and on mid-day's tide another attempt will be made, in which the steamers Hinemoa and Grafton will assist. 1 p.m.—ln consequence of the accident, the departure of the English mail will probably be delayed until Tuesday.
