Wellington, this day, Movements of Ministers.
Hon. Mb Tole, Minister of Justice, leaves tomorrow on a short visit to Wanganui district, after which ho will probably visit the Middle Island. It has beon Mr 'Pole's intontion for some time past to make this latter visit, but owing to tho absence of Sir Julius Vogel, he was unable to get away. Hon. Mr Buckley has now returned from his Nolson visit, and speaks in satisfactory torms of his inspection thero. Judicial Changes. The rumour current in legal circles some timo ago as to the probable early retirement of one or moro of the judges of the Supreme Court has recently been revived, and it is state! that tho vacancies will ariso very soon. Tho Trunk Railway Extension. Fresh arrangements have now been made as to turning the first sod of the North Island main trunk railway. Instead of tho Governor turning the first sod at the Marten end and Tawhiao at Te Awamutu, it is now intended to dispense with any formal ceremony at the southern end, and that the three chiefs, Wahanui, Taonui, and Rewi shall jointly officiate at the north end on the 15th inst., the Premier being present on the occasion.
