The time for receiving tenders for the construction of tho first section of the main trunk line of railway from Te Awamutu southwards expired on the Bth inst., and we havo authority for stating that the Public Works Department are satisfied as to the bona fides of tho lowest tenderer, and that probably the acceptance of this tender vyill oe officially announced on Monday noxt. Tho tendering has boon very brisk, nino Auckland contractors having made olFors, whilo thero aro probably fully as many moro from other parts of tho colony.
