Church of England Grammar Gcbool. His Lordship Bishop Cowio prosided on Tuesday, March 17, at tho annual distribution of prizes in connection with the Church of England Grammar School, Parnell, and the following gentlemen were also present: —District Judge Seth Smith, Messrs C. Mr Pycroft, Headmaster, read tho annual report of tho school, which announced that sinco ho had taken over tho school, fifteen months ago, the pupils had incroased from til to SO. Increased numbers meant, of churse, extra accommodation, so the head teacher had asked the Board of Governors to allow him to turn the present playshed into a workship, and the presont workshop into n reading-room and occasional class-room, and to lay on water and gas. If this latter could bo dono, not only could they start a debating club, but he would be in attondanco in tho evening to assist such of tho boys as chose to come in their homo work. If a hoad- master's houeo be built on tho vacant allotment noxt to this, it will make this evening work all tho oasior, Tho report wont on to rofor to special points in tho school curriculum and management, and stated that groit success had attondod tho oxporimont of giving a thorough commercial education. Allusion was mado to tho fact that Mr J. Russell Larkins, an old boy of Mr Adams's timo, had won not only an opon scholarship at Exeter College Oxford, but was also senior classic of King's Collogo, London. That the Govornors of St. John's College havo givon a scholarship to W. F. Horrop, the captain of the school, was also a matter for congratulation.
