Tho Northern Steamship Compauy's now steamor Gairloch has boon diatlnguiahinghersolf. She left Onehunga Wharf In company with the s s. Oretl at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Both wero bound for Waitara. and considerable speculation was indulged in as to which would arrive there tlr.t. A telegram reooived from Waitara informs us that tho Gairloch arrived thore at 8.30 p.m., and thut tho Oroti put in an appearanco at 12.15 p.m., just 4} hours later. A stiff southerly galo piovailed throughout, the trip, and was no doubt favourable to tho Gairloch. whioh has proved horsolf a very fast and wei'hoily boat.
