The Pukckura Block Dispute.

(Before His Honor Mr Justice Gillies.)

Ts Kaihi and Others v. Grice and O'l'iikks. —Application to declare a certain Crown grant null and void, Messrs H. D. Aell, W. Hay, and J. M. Alexander for plaintiffs, Mr H. Williamson for the Attorney-General, and Mr B. Hesketh for defendants. The concluding witnesses called yesterday afternoon wero E. B. Walker (agent for Grice and Bonn, the defendants) and two native owners. Mr Heskoth said that the only evidence he had to offer would bo supplementary to that adduced on behalf of the plaintiff^. His Honor inquired if it was intended that tho Court should hear the arguments of counsel, or if it wero merely intended to havo tho case in a form to be remitted to and argued boforo tho Court of Appeal, Ho could not bo expected to give judgmont without hearing the arguments. Mr Bell said that unlessllis Honor pressed them to remit tho caso to the Court of Appeal, they would accept judgment from him. As the vacation was now at hand, the arguments might bo taken at the first sitting in banco after it was over. His Honor repliod that no was not afraid to take the caso singlo-handod. Mr Bell remarked that in that caso they would ask him to hear tho arguments and dolivor tho judgment. His Honor subsequently, in ruling out certain questions as irrelevant, said they seemed to him to be merely an attempt to get in ovidonco affecting the prejudices of tho English judges, boforo whom tho ease would eventually go.
