A largi number were again en - tered at the Durham Yards on Friday; bidding was languid, and Bales were difficult'to effect; although several j horses held over from the pre" vlous week fount i purchasers. We quota ade cline of fully 10s per head on last week's rateWool, hides, and skins: Hides were not in brisk demand, bnt the previous week's values were fully maintained, and skins advanced fully 3d each,, The first wool sale of the season was well attended by buyers, but the business of competition was left to the minority. There was an improvement in the staples of : many of the lots as compared with previous year, and prices were from id to 1 d per lb higher lor greasy than at the corresponding sale of 1883. Prices ranged from s_d to 6jd for longwool in grease; badly washed, 8d per lb: merino in grease, 8d per lb. Cattle: There has been no further drop In value, but prices are ruinous to Bhipoers, and little local stock has been brought forward. The Newmarket Yards were amply supplied on Tuesday, and prices were generally a shade higher than on the previous week, although they fluctuated from 17s 6d to 22s per lOOlbs. Sheep: A good many have been brought forward, and prices ruled low, selling, at from lsidtolsßdper_bs; lambs, from 5s 9d to 12s 6d. HgS: Only a few came.forward; prices unchanged.
