Mb R. Arthur's Weekly Report.—Rather a quiet week in produce department, but little on hand. There was a good supply for Friday's sale. Potatoes (new) a little lower; a large quantity sold; all old ones cleaned out at Is Id to 2b Cd per owt. Cheese has come to hand freely; could not get owners' prices for many ut auction. Good bacon is in fair demand. Fruit moves off freely, of good quality. Furniture has bten in good demand. Monday: Clearing-out sale of saddlery, fowls, &c.; a good attendance, fair prices. Tuesday: Sale of household furniture, etc., at man; there was a fair" attendance, but bidding wav languished, still a large amount of stuff changed hands. Wednesday: Continuation of sale of household furniture at mart. Thero was a good attendance, fair competition, and a good business done at fair prices. Friday: Market day sale, poultry, produce, fruit, etc., at mart There was a large attendance, a full supply, good competition, and a large business done. Tho supply of poultry was larger than it has boon for some weeks; good prices were obtained. Pigs sold at much lower rates. Fowls, Is 6<l to 3s; cliioks, 9d to Is Id ; Brahmas, 3s Gd to 4s 9d ; turkeys, 5s ed to 9s; ducks, ls'4d to 2s 7d; pigeons, Is Id to 2s fld ; pigs, 6s Cd to 21s; old potatoes, 2s ;to 2s 6d; new potatoes. 63 to 8s 3d; kidneys, Id to lid per Id ; onions, 3d; peal, Is 6d to Is 7d; gooseberries, 3d to 6Jd per lb; apples, 15s; cheese, 3d to' 5Jd: bacon. 2d to B}d; tea (box), 20s to 21a; sugar. 2Jd to 33 d ; coffee, Is 2d; biscuits, 4id to 6d; wheat, 33 to 3s 3d ; oats. 2s to 3s 3d; sharps 53 Cd to (is ; bran, 6s; flour, £5 to £11; chaff, 2d; white lead, 275; cherries. Messrs Carbines and Taylor held their usual Friday's sale of poultry, produce, furniture, groceries, fancy goods, and drapery, and report a good attendance and fair pi ices maintained through all dopartmenta. Poultry: Young chicks, Is 3d to Is 9d : fowls. Is 10dto3a 7d; golden spangled Hamburgs. is fld; bantams, la 3d ; hen and clutches of chicks, lls; pigeons, Is 7d; ducks, 23 fld t02d83 ; rabbits. Is 1 jd; young pigs were in good demand, and sold freely at from 16s Bd to 13a; medium size pigs. Ha to 21s; turkeys, 63 Id; Brahma fowls, 6a (id. Produce: Hams and bacon of superior quality remain very scarce. Medium hams and bacon, Jjdto 6d ; superior do.. 6jd to 9d; good hams, lid; potatoes old, 23 6d to Is 6d, according to quality. New potatoes were in fail demand, and sold at jd to lid: corned beef. Id to lid; corned pork, 13d; keg butter. 5d to 6}d;good cheese is very scarce, and realises 6d to 6Jd lb; medium cheese, 2d to 6d; bran, 6s; chaff, 2s Ed; wheat,3s to 3aGd; oats, Ss Bd; oatmeal, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; sharps, 6s per lOOlbs. Groceries: Tea (in boxes), lls to 21s; tea (in half-chests). Is Id to 2s; sugar. 3d to 33d; kero-. sine, Is 7il to 1b lOd; sperm candles, B}d to 9jd; soap. 8s 6d to 15s per half box; mixed biscuits, Id to 5Jd; flour. £9 to £1110s per ton. Furniture, fancy goodß, cutlery, sundries, and drapery were sold at prices satisfactory.
Messrs G. W, Binney & Co. report that at their, weekly sale of wool, hides, and skma, flret-class stout hides were in demand, and sold from 3}d to JJd; light, 31d to 3£d; inferior. 2}d to 2Jd; calf. 3}dto4d per lb: batchers' skins, is Id to 49 9d; polls,7d to lOd: station skins,' Is lid to 3s Id each.
