A Municipal Deadlock.

Thames, this day. —An amendment of the Municipal Corporations Act passed dunng tho late session, providing that any ward ol a borough containing lesß than 25 ratepayers shall cease to exist and shall be attached to the adjacent ward, has bad the effect of wiping.out the Ward of Thames municipality, which comprised 12 ratepayers, and was created by departmental blundering. The' Mayor has notified the Parawai representatives that tbey are no longer Councillors, but all three presented themselves, at last night s meeting, and claimed the right to sit until the Council nas, by resolution, declared Parawai to have boon merged into some other ward. A prolonged discussion ensued, during Which the Mayor (Col. /raser, M.H,R.) stated that the clause had been framed expressly to meet the case in question, and .eventually the business of the Council was adjourned for a fortnight for.the accommodation of the three gentlemen concerned.
