Wellington, this day.—Tho date fixed for tho payment of property fax amounting ito sums under £250, and the first moiety of sums ovor that amount^is 22nd December j thosocond moiety is due on 2nd February, and 10 per cent, will be added to all taxes duo in December and unpaid on January 51 h. Government Prosecution of a Fraudulent Bankrupt. ' Tho Government are prosecuting Waring Taylor, and the information laid yesterday by Mr Jellicoo, barrister, was under instructions from the Attorney-General.
Christchurch, this day.—A complimentary dinner .was given to Mr John Holmes, M.H.R, for Christchurch South lost night, when over 100 persons were present.
Dukedin, this day.—The direct steamer Kaikoura left the Cape on 17th inst. for Hobart.
