Wellington, this day. The Governmeat intend to push on necessary surveys in connection with tho North Island majn trunk line as quickly as possible. Operations will be commenced at both ends, and _r>me of the surveyors engaged for the Northern section leave for Auckland by the Tarawera to-day. It is believed that the first contract will be out in two months, and work will commence simultaneously at Marton and Te Awamutu. .',■-'.. o- *
