It was insured for £ .00 in the North British Ollico, and tho furniture and effects for £700, £000 of which was in tho Liverpool, London, and Globe Ollico, and £200 in the Lancashire. Mr Jones was absent at a meeting, and only his wife and a sorvant were in the house, from which nothing was saved. A cottago in Levin-street, occupied by Mrs Johnston, boarilinghousokcepor, was destroyed by liro at li..'Jo a.m. to-day, Nothing was saved, and thoro was no insurance oh tho furniture, or effects. Tho cottago belonged lo MrV-loan, and wns Insured for _:12"> in the Australian Mercantile Union OHico. CiimsTCHUnoil, this day. The houso and property of tho Rev. McGregor, betweon Ambcrloy and Loithlicld, wero completely destroyed by liro yesterday morning, it was in tlio occupation of Mr Nicholson, wife, and family. Tho children woro rosciicil with groat difficulty. Nothing was saved. It is supposed that the lire wns caused by tho children's clothes being too near the lircplaco when the inmates retired to rest. Tho building was insured in the Now Zealand Otiicc for £!I0; the furniture and effects for £100 in tho Union.
