' Brikv particulars wore givon in our last evening's issue of the shocking accident to | tho young man Michael McNamee. , The occurrence, however, proved to be of a more serious character than was at first supposed, the poor fellow losing both arms, and only surviving an hour or two after the casualty. ItwouldappearthatMcNameowas notsawingtirewoodatthetimcofthoaecident. Having had many accidonfs in connection with tho kuw, Mr Canham would not let him go to it. J\lr Canham informs us that McNamee stepped on to the saw bench with the object of reaching a piece of cloth with which to make an apron, and fell back on to tho saw, which was working at the rate of several hundred revolutions per minute. He sustained dreadful injuries before he was rescued. Medical assistance was sent for, and Drs. Stockwoll, Wine, and Tennent were soon in attendance at the yard. Stimulants were administered, and ligatures applied to stop the excessive bleeding.. MeNameo's right arm had been completely cut off slightly above the wrist, and the left severed immediately below tho wrist. There was also a severe lacerated wound extending rora tho middle of tho thigh across the knee-cap. It was considered advisable to have the man removed to the Hospital, and Dr. Bond having boon communicated with by telephone, everything was in readiness for the reception of tho patient, who was carried thither on a litter of sacks. The medical gontlemen could offer _no hope of recovery, and McNamee expired soon after his admission to tho Hospital from shock to the system and exhaustion. He had previously been placed under chloroform, and the partly severed arm removed. Decoased was employed by Mr Canham as carter, and was a steady young fellow of 24 or ?5 years of age. Somo two months ago he was absent from work about a fortnight in consequence _of having his finger broken whilo loading posts on the Breakwater. He was attended on that occasion by Dr. Tennont. Again, about four years ago, whilo ho was in tho employ of Mr Edmonds, ho was kicked in the faco in Kybor Pass by a horse, and Dr. Philson found it necessary to remove his right eye. His cheek bone was also smashed by that blow. Deceased was a member of tho H.A.C.B. Society. An inquost was being held at the Hospital this afternoon before Dr. Philson, Coroner.

A very successful meeting was held last night by the members of the Excelsior Lodge, Now Zealand Order Good Templars, and friends, in the Franklin Jtoad Schoolroom. Tho oholr woro vory nuocussful in thoir first appearance j the songs and recitations woro well rendered, and "Tho Working Man's Address," by Mrs Anderson, was well received. We have much pleasure in inviting attention to tho programme of Herr Sohmitt's benefit-concert to-morrow night. It appears inouradvertisingcolumjisandwillbefoundto embraco most of tho choico mcrceaux which havo boen given at tho Orchestral Society's concerts during the past year oi eighteen months. Conspicuous amongst the selections will be noticed the very popular " Turkish Patrol " and that amusing medley entitled "The Kaloidoscopo," both of which havo been inserted by special request. The concert cannot fail to bo highly attractive, and this fact, as well as the benejieiairc'n unquestionable deserts, should ensure a bumper "house."

The annivorsary of tho Sir Henry Havelook Lodgoof Good Templars was celebrated by a pQncert on Tuesday evening.
