NELSON, MOATE, AND CO.'S BLENDED TEAS VERSUS INDIAN TEAS. FROM a late paragraph and advertisement in tho "New Zealand Herald," wt notice a serious error in the remarks about I he increase of imports in Indian Teas. We can assure all interested that tho consumption of Indlan Tea has decreased to an alarming extent; so much so that hist season the Melbourne and New Zealand markets were glutted, and good, sound, sweet Teas were selling pence per lb. below cost, and this year tho imports are many thousands of cases below last, making it a very difficult matter to buy even a few hundred oases. The same advertisement alludes to the introduction of Indians into New Zoaland, with regard to which wo beg to draw the attention of the pnblio to the following local that appeared some time back in tho "Lyttellon Times," showing NELSON, MOATE, & Co. to bo the Largest Importers, and consequently the Largest Sellers, of Indian Tea in New Zealand. We do not wish to run Indian Tea down, as it Is without doubt, when carefully fired, &c., a most useful Tea to those only experienced In the art of Blending China and Indian Teas. The Tea by itself will never take tho place of China or Blended Teas, as only about 10 '/. of tho Tea Drinkers are ever ablo to drink even the Boost Daijceling and Assam kincta. In England the consumption of Blended Tea has Increased to a greater extent than any original imported tea. " The largest importation of Indian Teas to New Zealand was made last month by Messrs NELSON, MOATE, AND CO. It consisted of over 1,300 packages (chests and half-chests) of Pekoee and Pekoe Souchong, from Che wellknown districts of Cachar, Assam, Darjcclinp, Shylett, Chittagong, and Dovars. Mc are informed this is one of the many shipments during the year', intended for use in blending toith numerous varieties oj New Season China Teas. Nelson, Moate * Co. c.
