(UY TELI.GBAPH—I'RESS ASSOCIATION.)

London, July 11. The cricket match, Australians v. All England, commenced to-day at Manchester. There was an enormous attendance of spectators, by whom the greatest interest was taken in the game. The wicket was very heavy owing to the rain which fell yesterday and during the night, and the ground suffered still more while tlie play was proceeding, owing to heavy .showers which fell ut inli.rvals, and occasionally interrupted the game. The Knglislinien went first to the wickets, (irace and Hornby facing the bowling of Doyle ami SpoH'orth. Hornby was stumped without scoring, when I.lyett joined (irace. Neither batsmen made a stand, Ulyett being bowled fors, and Grace caught for 8. Barlow and Steele thou got together, and they had added materially to the score when Steele was disposed of, caught for 15. Lucas joined Barlow, und despite the state of tho wicket, they succeeded in making a good defence. Barlow was at length bowled, after making a splendidly played IK. The batsmen who followed were unable to make any stand against the splendid bowling and fielding of the Australians. Lucas carried ouf his bat for 15, the innings closing for 'JO. After the usual interval the Australians went in, Bannerman and McDonnell opening the innings. Tho formor soon succumbed, being given out leg before wicket when he had made (i. Murdoch became McDonnell's partner, and together they made an excellent stand, both playing carefully. McDonnell was at length caught for .'l6. When time was called and tho stumps drawn for the day, the .core of the Australians stood at 111 with 7 wickets down, Midwinter being not out with 2!) to his credit.
