Mr S. P. Andrews, who used to be one of the staunchest supporters of Sir George Grey, is now a candidate for Stanmore in the Vogel interest. Mr E. G. Korr addressed tho electors of Timaru last night, and said ho was a follower of Sir Julius Vogol, who, ho bolievcd, would have a strong following. Mr A. B. Rhodes has retired from contesting the Gladstone soat. Mr Joseph Jebson, jun., a candidate for St. Albans, addressed a meeting at Merivale, and received a vote of confidence. He opposes Sir Julius Vogel. Mr Dunlop addressed a large meeting of the electors of Avon at Papanui, and received a vote of confidence. He will support "the leader of the Liberal party." Mr Clissold is to be asked to contest Lyttelton with Mr AUwright and Mr Webb. The Chriatchurch Working Men's Political Association have decided to support any ■candidate coining forward in the Liberal interest as opposed to Sir Julius Vogel for Christchurch North. Mr A. H. Ross addressed tho Roslyn electors last night, and received a vote of confidence. He was in favour of a reconstruction of the Ministry, with Major Atkinson and Mr R-olleston aa members of the now ono. At the nominations of candidates for the southern Maori district, Hori Kerei Tniaroa and Tare Wetera Te Kahio were proposed, and a poll demanded. Captain Tosswill is announced as a candidate for Coleridge. Mr Wakefield addressed the electors of Selwyn last night. Ho said he would assist in the formation of a new Moderate party with Sir Julius Vogel as leader, and excluding Major Atkinson and Sir George Grey. A vote of thanks and confidence won carried by an overwhelming majority, an amendment of thanks only being negatived. At Kaikoura Mr Lance addressed a crowded meeting last night. If the late ■Ministry were in~a majority he said he would suppoat them, but he anticipated Sir Julius Vogel would become premier, and he would support him so long as he did not commit the country to an extravagant policy. He cnaracterized Sir George Grey as a dangerous leader.
