RusSKLL, this day.—Tho Nativo Synod closes to-morrow.

Cambridge, this day Tho Voting lor Public Loon.

It will bo remembered that a few weeks ago a poll was taken on raising a loan of £000 for improvement on tho Public Hall and Library here, and what was considered the necessary majority having been sooured in favour of the proposal, it was declared carried. On applying for the money to Wellington, a reply has been received to the effect that the town has mado a mistake, as instead of getting two-thirds of the ratepayers in favour of the proposal, as required by tho Amendment Act of 1883, they have only thought it necessary to get ovor one-half of tho entire number of ratepayers, as required by the Municipal Corporations Aot of ISSI, which is not now in force in town districts. The matter has caused quite a sensation, as it is believed impossible, owing to the nuinbor of absentees, to bring two-thirds of the Cambridge ratepayers to the poll.

DunbdiNj this day.—Sailed : Auckland, for London, with a full cargo. At a meeting of the creditors of Thomas Dodson, the action of the National Bank in realising on their securities, afterconsenting to the course taken at last meeting, was strongly commented on by creditors.
