TAWHIAO'S MOVEMENTS.
AT 11 o'clock to-day, Tawhiao, accompanied by Rewi, Mr & 0. Davies, and several natives, left by the Rose Casey for Kawau, it being their intention to pay a visit to Sir George Grey at his island home. The Maori King hna for some time past been desirous of conversing with Sir Ge:rge Grey regarding the proposed mission ts England, and indeed he came to Auckland expressly for that purpose. Sir George Grey will no doubt give Tawhiao all the information in h'!s power, though it must be admitted that after tho Maori potentate's uncivil, conduct to Sir George in IS7O he docs not de* servo much consideration from the exPremier. We understand that the mission will start for England some time about the middle of next month. At present it is stated that it will comprise Tawhiao and 12 other chiefs, but it is more than probable that this number, from financial reasons, will dwindle before the date of the departure arrireß. The amount so far collocted for the expenses of the "embassy" is stated at from £1,000 to £1,500.
